So, I need to introduce you to the 4-legged loves of my life!
This is Tomero La Belle, or Tommy as we know him, my home bred PRE x appaloosa he is 4 and has just been backed. He is the sweetest horse I have ever owned and just loves people, especially me! I was there when he was born and, in fact, helped with the final stages of his birth and so we have always had a special bond. I have big plans for him – I bred him for dressage and I hope this ambition will one day be realised.
This old lady is my mare Dottie. I have had her since she was 4 and she is now 21. She is Tommy’s mum and we have been through a lot together over the years. She has been a very talented horse in her day, particularly over fences but she is now enjoying a well earned quiet life with just light work but mainly just chilling in the field. Words can’t describe how much I love this horse.
I have ridden since I was very young and am a qualified instructor (BHSAI). In France I ran a trekking business and would be in the saddle up to 5 hours a day. But, all that changed when I had my kids and then, of course, Psoriatic Arthritis came along to spoil the party too and I have ridden very little in the last 4 years.
This blog will record my return to the saddle and the training of my youngster and how (or if) I cope with all this and my PsA.
